The Tests Explained

Theory Test

The theory test is a 50 question multiple-choice test. To pass you must answer 43 or more questions correctly within 57 minutes. Questions are chosen at random from a bank of over 1,000 questions, and you answer by touching the screen. During the test you have the option to skip questions and return to them later.

Hazard Perception Test

Immediately after your theory test, you’ll watch a series of 14 one minute video clips, each showing potential hazards involving road conditions, pedestrians or road users. There are 15 hazards to identify and you can score up to 5 points on each one, depending on how quickly you identify them. You need to score 44 out of 75 to pass. Both Theory and Hazard Perception must be passed at the same time.

Practical Test

In your practical test, youhave to demonstrate everything you have learned in your driving lessons. You need to show you can drive competently and safely in all kinds of driving situations. You’ll be asked to do two reversing manoeuvres you’ve practised with your instructor, and possible make an emergency stop. You’ll also answer two vehicle safety check questions, one ‘show me’ and one ‘tell me’. You will receive a free copy of the Show / Tell questions from your instructor. You will have to complete the test with no serious or dangerous faults and you must have 15 or fewer driving faults.

How Will You Know You Are Ready For Test?

Your instructor will work with you using your personal assessment card. You will be able to see your progress at a glance. At MATZ Driving School, we do not teach you to pass test, we teach you to be a safe and competent driver, with all the skills to deal in today's ever increasing difficult traffic conditions.

Contrary to public belief, we are not in it to make money from you. By using assessment cards and carrying out Mock Tests ensures the syllabus is covered in full and prompts development in weaker areas.

Terms And Conditions

• Payments: Payment must be made at the beginning of the lesson.
• Cancellations: If you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson, then you are required to give 48 hours notice. Failure to do so will result in you having to pay the full lesson fee. In the case of prepaid lessons, one lesson will be deducted from the total. When booking lessons in a block, please ensure that you are happy with the service you are committing to as no refund will be given. Unused lessons will be put on hold for amaximumof 6months. Unused lessons can not be transferred to another person but may be transferred to another instructor within the company.

However, in either of these events MATZ Driving School will endeavor to re-schedule cancelled lessons, space allowing. Nor can MATZ Driving School be held responsible for driving tests postponed or cancelled by the Driving Standards Agency.
• Road Safety: We reserve the right to withdraw our cars for tests without notice should the pupil prove not to be up to test standard.
