Money or your Life One of The most frustrating discussions we have with pupils and parents is the cost and time to pass a Driving Test. 2010 is the year where Matz would like to highlight the effort and commitment it takes to become a safe driver. Yes, unfortunately, Learning to Drive comes at a price; however, it is nothing to the loss of a loved one if through poor Driver Education. The message is strong, however we feel it necessary to get your attention, and sit up and understand what a driving instructor’s role is. Yes there are some Driving Instructors who are just in it for the Money, which gives those of us who teach and practice safe driving as a vocation, a poor reputation. At Matz we see it as our Social Responsibility to teach safe driving. Matz 2010 campaign is to educate everyone as to why learning to drive is a serious business and passing the test and getting a licence is not a god given right. THEORY We see week on week pupils failing and moaning about The Theory test, we ask. Did you study? NO as the answer. Is it any wonder they fail? Sitting on a computer and doing mock tests which generate random questions do not work, it is a good way to practice answering in the time scale allowed, but potential drivers need to read more on the topics, then do mock tests. It is false economy to sit test after test, never mind the pride factor. At Matz, when a pupil is on a practical lesson, Theory plays a very large part if the lesson, we are continuously asking pupils to read the road and identify road signs and markings, as well as moving or static hazards. It seems pupils want to do bare minimal to pass the test, and not being aware that the knowledge gained through study will help them understand their responsibility on the road, but help them be a better and safer driver. |
